Prenatal Care
with a client

MotherRoot Midwifery offers prenatal care, beginning early in your pregnancy.  Prenatal care is a time to get to know one another and develop trust, as well as an opportunity for support and education.  At prenatal visits, I am able to monitor your health and your baby’s health and growth, as well as screen for complications.  I believe that good prenatal care should be nurturing, empowering and fun, and should support your physical and emotional well-being.

Prenatal appointments take place in your home, which allows me to very familiar with your space by the time your birth rolls around.  Prenatal visits last about 45 minutes, to allow plenty of time for education, physical assessments, any needed lab testing, nutritional counseling, support and shared decision making. My goal is for you to understand all your options, so that you can make truly informed decisions about your care, with my experience as a guide.   You are welcome to bring family and friends to these appointments.  Also, all clients will be given a pregnancy journal, which allows you space to explore all the changes and growth of this time in your life. Most clients chose to do all their prenatal care with MotherRoot Midwifery, rather than seeing a doctor, since the midwife is able to provide very comprehensive monitoring of the baby and the mother's health.   Clients who desire it prenatally can be given referrals for ultrasound imaging.
